Despite being located in Southern most point of Europe, Spain, with an average altitude (660 m) just after Switzerland, has some of the best ski resorts throughout its more than half a million square kilometers.
The main areas for skiing in Spain are the Catalan Pyrenees (Girona and Lleida), Aragon Pyrenees (Huesca) and Sierra Nevada in Granada, but there are important ski resorts in the Central System (Madrid, Salamanca, Segovia) and "Sistema Ibérico" (Teruel).
